Old Whittington focus for September talk

Our September 16th talk will feature ‘A History of Old Whittington: its
Church and People’ by Philip Morris.

This new talk will look at this interesting parish and there’s certainly more to this area than the well-known Revolution House, as Philip will explain.

Philip has spent much time in building up a a local history resource in the parish church, at Old Whittington, alongside researching the church itself and the parish which its serves.

The damage caused by the destruction of the parish church of 1863 by a fire in January 1895 will no doubt be explained by Philip Morris in our September talk. (Courtesy Old Whittington Parish Church).

Normal arrangements for the meeting apply. We are back in the main St Thomas church centre – Chatsworth Road, Chesterfield, S40 3AW.

Admission is free for members and for visitors the charge is £3. Free parking is available on site or on neighbouring streets.

Doors normally open from around 7pm for a 7.30pm start and there is an opportunity to obtain light refreshments before and after our presentation (50p per cup of tea or coffee).

Visit our meetings page for fuller details of our talks programme.
