Archaeology festival on Sunday 28 July

We had a great time at the Festival of Archaeology day on Sunday 28 July at Hardwick Hall.

Ready for business. Our display prepared by Janet Murphy.

Our exhibition stand was about Roman Chesterfield. Compiled by Janet Murphy, it highlighted just some of the archaeological excavations carried out around the town centre, but how a really coherent study of these is still awaited. Some visitors were surprised that Chesterfield actually played a role in the Roman occupation. You can, of course, read our summary about Roman occupation in the town in our chronology.

We enjoyed talking to attendees of the exhibition, as did many other exhibitors. We hope to see at least some of them at our meetings.

Our stand was in a large marquee.
